I love Valentines Day. The day that reminds us to share our love with others and tell those around us how much we love them. Holidays are the absolute funnest with kids. We had fun making their school valentine cards and then going through all the ones they brought home. I had fun making every meal and snack coordinate with something Valentines. We had a fun dinner with homemade heart shaped pizza and the kids got to open little gifts from mom and dad. It was a LOVELY day and the topper of it all was spending the evening with my Valentine! Happy Valentines Day!!!
I did it! I completed a half marathon. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever consider myself a runner let alone participate in races. I never really got nervous because I was more just wanting to finish and not necessarily compete until I was waiting with other runners to start the race and heard some of them say that this was a challenging course. Then I got really nervous and thought oh great how is this going to go, I had only trained on flat ground. Well, considering the many uphills in the course and the fact that my knee gave out on me around mile 8 that brought me to walk for about a half mile or so, I was encouraged by a fellow runner who passed by me watching me strap on my cho pat strap around my knee telling me to push through the pain and slowly pick back up. I did and was so HAPPY to know that I still finished under my goal time. It was the best feeling to have my family and mom and sister and niece and nephews cheering me on as I came to the finish. The announcer with a mega phone even started yelling my name and it was quite embarrassing but it made me finish with a big smile on my face. I surprisingly really enjoyed running 13.1 miles, and loved being apart of Ethan's run. I can't wait to do more races in the future. Maybe a full marathon someday!
My support teams. It meant the world to me to have them all there.
After the race the kids enjoyed all the activities they had going on. We had a fun morning and finished it off with a run to Costco and a Costco hot dog that was oh so good.
Thanks to our awesome FHE board we got for Christmas from the Smiths our kids always know what they are in charge of every family night. On this particular Monday Katon was in charge of activity. When Katon had finished his homework he spent the rest of the afternoon outside. I thought he was playing basketball or riding quads but we all later found out that he was constructing this so we could have a campfire and roast hot dogs and marshmallows for family night activity. I was quite impressed by my little scout and what a fun family activity Katon planned.
As one of the girls Christmas presents, we gave them Disney on Ice tickets with a mom and girls weekend attached to it. So on Friday January 21st the girls and I drove down to the valley to have some mommy daughter time. It was a lot of fun spending time with just my girls. My mom and dad took us to dinner Friday night and then made us supreme ice cream sundaes. We watched a movie and then it was off to bed. Saturday morning we went to a baby shower and then got things ready to meet up with my sister Kristy and her daughter Lexi to go to Disney on Ice. We enjoyed our $8 box of popcorn and was entertained the whole time by the amazing show. After the show we took the girls to the mall where they got to shop and by something. Kayla and Lexi both wanted pajamas and Mikelle got sunglasses. We went to super salad for dinner and then headed back to grandmas to tell her all about our day. The girls and I then drove home late Saturday night. It was a great weekend. I am so glad to have my 2 girls. They are the best daughters a mom could ever hope for.
I had the most wonderful birthday! My kids were home from school and my sister and her family were here too. We took the kids to McDonald's for lunch and then waited for Steven to get home from work to have cake and ice cream. I can't believe I am 29! Here's to enjoying the last year in my 20's!
My kids and nephews and niece gave me the best birthday gift ever! They conducted a whole show in my honor. They sang songs and each of them drew me a picture and wrote what they loved most about me. It was the sweetest thing. I will treasure those papers forever!
Birthday's are a free ticket for no cooking! Here we are enjoying some delicious pizza!
Steven had a custom birthday cake made for me. It was the most delicious cake I have ever had. Thank you Monica for your fantastic baking skills.
