Death and Rebirth of a Blankie

This is what's left of Kayla's blanket that my mom made for her when she was born. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many times it has been sewn back together. Kayla is completely attached to this blanket. She takes it and drags it everywhere. As you can clearly see it got to the point where it was embarrassing to take it anywhere, especially church. So at Kayla's request I asked my mom if she would make another one.
GUESS WHAT ARRIVED IN THE MAIL TODAY!!!
Kayla's new blanket. She was so excited and I was so grateful. Notice that the strings are extra long. No, my mom did not forget to cut them. That is how Kayla wanted it. Kayla calls those strings "good one, ones" Don't ask me how she came up with that name but ever since she could talk that is what she has called them. Kayla is a thumb sucker and has been since she was an infant. When she was not even a year old she started to take the strings on her blankie and twist them around her fingers and tickle her nose with them. It was her comfort thing I guess and she still does it to this day. We are working on the thumb sucking thing but she still can't do without her "good one, one's" Thank you mom, the first thing Kayla said when she saw the blanket was "it has lots of good one, one's"
She is loving her new blankie!
THANK YOU GRANDMA!!!

He won't stop loosing teeth

We call him our toothless wonder! He keeps losing teeth. The other night he lost his 6th tooth. We didn't even know his tooth was loose. Sometimes I think he wiggles them to death until they come out.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTY!!!

MY HOW TIME FLIES...
It's my big sisters birthday TODAY! She is now the BIG 30... I am so glad she is my sister. I wouldn't trade her for the world.
These are some memories I have growing up with my sister...
Our favorite past time was playing store. We would get all our clothes out of the closets or all the food out of the pantry and use the silverware drawer for a cash register.
We would play McDonald's and use the window above the kitchen sink as our drive thru.
Kristy would still play barbies and house with me even when she outgrew them just so that I wouldn't have to play alone.
We always had fun dressing up our brothers in girlie clothes.
We loved to play Sea World trainers for dolphins and such in our swimming pool.
I always looked up to my sister.
I remember her thick red framed glasses she had in Junior High.
I remember watching her run track and her boyfriend sitting with us in the stands.
I remember watching her go out on dates and going to dances, dreaming of the day I would be able to do that.
I remember our late night talks when we shared a room.
She would always let me tag along with her and her friends.
We would dress up in crazy outfits and drive around with a cup on top of our car, laughing hysterically.
I remember the night of her wedding and how sad I was going to bed that night not being able to talk to her anymore about life and boys until wee hours of the night.
Memories of my sister continue to grow.
Her being there all day at the hospital every time I had a baby.
Talking to me until 3am while I am up with a newborn that won't go to sleep.
Making every effort to come to every birthday, or event of my families.
Being the favorite Aunt that my kids adore.
Watching my kids in a time of need or just because.
Acting crazy on our girls night and making us all laugh.
She is always up for a good time.
For all the phone calls at any given time just to talk about life.
My sister is one of a kind. She goes above and beyond the call of sister duty. I am so blessed to have Kristy as my sister. She has made such a difference in my life. I love all the memories we have had and I am excited for all the memories to come. I hope she has a wonderful birthday because she deserves it.
WE LOVE YOU KRISTY

OUR ANNUAL ANNIVERSARY GETAWAY
Steven and I were able to getaway for a few days for our anniversary. We have done this since our 1st anniversary and it has since become a tradition that we both look forward to every year. This year we got a hotel through priceline. We bid a really low price and didn't think any hotel would accept it. We were wrong. We were both a little nervous to see what hotel accepted our offer. But then we were pleasantly surprised when we saw that we were staying at a Point Hilton Resort. We were both so excited to stay at a really nice Resort. We were even more excited when we saw the resort. Then the best thing happened. Steven went to check in and being the person that he is asked the lady checking us in if she would do a free upgrade since it was our anniversary. SHE DID!! We ended up staying in their nicest, most expensive room! It was amazing. Besides the whole resort thing, the best part was spending time together ALONE! It was so relaxing. We went to lunch, dinner, went shopping, went to the movies, we even had Robert and Amber come and hang out with us one night at the resort. It is very reassuring that after 8 years of marriage we still can't spend enough time together. We have so much fun hanging out and most importantly we laugh all the time.

This is my effort trying to get Steven to take a cute picture. What a pose!
Check out the hotel room. You should have seen it in person. It was so nice and HUGE. We kept having to pinch ourselves to realize we weren't dreaming.

We hiked up the mountain that was behind the resort. It was so beautiful to look out at the city. Steven and I loved just sitting up on top of the mountain breathing in the fresh air.

OUR HOTEL STAY WITH THE KIDS
The resort was so nice and the pool was really kid friendly we decided to extend our stay one night and have our kids come stay with us at the resort. They were super excited. Cody and Brittany Smith and their kids came and spent the day with us swimming. The kids had a blast. Our kids loved staying at the hotel. They thought it was so cool!

Mikelle, Kayla, and Crew loving the pool
Katon loving the water slide. It is fun with his age (and the fact that he is a good kid) because I can pretty much trust him to go and do his own thing. (with limits of course) He found a friend and they just kept going down the slide together. He had a lot of fun!
The dads and kids. Although the pool was somewhat heated it was still a little to cold for Brittany and I. But we had fun sticking our feet in!

EASTER PAGEANT
The Easter Pageant was amazing! It helped that we were sitting directly in the middle on the second row. Talk about great seats. I have never sat that close and it made such a difference. Thanks to my father in law for going at 4:00 to get seats. My bother and sister in law, the Picos, and three of their kids were apart of it. They did such a great job. I am always amazed at the whole production. It is incredible!

Me and my cute niece Anne

BOWLING
We went out on a date with my cousin and his wife. We went to dinner and then went to rock and bowl. We bowled for two hours and laughed the whole time. Surprisingly Steven beat all of us. He must have hidden talents that I don't know about.
Steven was a little bummed with that bowl but we were all happy because he was a bowling pro that night.
This is my cousins wife Stacey who had a smile the whole time because she kept bowling strikes! Not kidding...
This is my cousin Rocky who was obviously pleased with his strike!

PICNIC AT THE PARK
We went to the park one day and had a picnic with my family. The weather was so nice. It had been a while since my kids had been to a park since for the last several months parks in Flagstaff have been covered in snow. I can't tell you how much fun they had, we all had! It was a fun day!

Just a random picture of my silly kids
